기지재단은 화가 박서보가 낸 재원으로 2019년 세워진 비영리 재단법인입니다. ‘기지’는 중의적으로 활동의 거점, 상황에 대응하는 지혜와 기개를 의미합니다.
기지재단은 박서보의 작품을 관리하고, 그와 관련된 자료의 아카이브를 구축합니다. 박서보 미술관을 세우고, 전시를 주관하며, 기념관을 운영합니다. 그를 세상에 널리 알리는 영상 및 출판 콘텐츠를 만듭니다. 지역 구민을 위한 다양한 문화 행사를 만들고, 젊은 창작자를 찾아 지원하는 일을 합니다.
박서보의 뜻에 따라 재원이 세상을 향해 의미 있게 쓰이는 일에 온 힘을 다하고 있습니다.
The GIZI Foundation is a non-profit foundation created in 2019 with funding by the artist Park Seo-Bo. The name “GIZI” has a dual meaning, representing both the Korean word for “base of activity” as well as a combination of the Korean characters for “spirit” (gi) and “wisdom” (zi) in reacting to different situations.
The GIZI Foundation works to manage Park Seo-Bo’s artwork and to create archives of related information. It builds museums honoring Park Seo-Bo’s art, organizes exhibitions, and operates a memorial. It develops videos and publication content to raise wider awareness of the artist throughout the world. It creates different cultural events for residents and works to discover and support young artists.
In keeping with Park Seo-Bo’s wishes, the foundation is doing its utmost to ensure that the funding is used in meaningful ways that benefit the world.
